SOUTH BEND, Indiana — October 25, 2023 — The University of Notre Dame's Fitzgerald Institute for Real Estate will host its Fall 2023 Church Properties Conference from October 29 to 31 at the McKenna Hall Conference Center. Among the esteemed panel of speakers, DEODATE CEO and Managing Partner, Rodrigo Gonzalez, is slated to contribute to a pivotal discussion on developing affordable housing.
The session, titled, "Developing Affordable Housing on Surplus Church-Owned Property," also features Paul Silvern, Partner at HR&A Advisors. Gonzalez and Silvern will delve into their extensive experience working with diverse stakeholders in creating affordable housing solutions. They will share real-world examples and best practices that have driven success in this mission-based initiative, aligning with local community needs, faith-based missions, and financial objectives.
Rodrigo Gonzalez stated, “I am honored to discuss such a crucial topic at an event of this caliber. Collaboration between real estate experts, church leaders, and the community is the cornerstone for developing sustainable and affordable housing solutions. I look forward to contributing to this meaningful dialogue and sharing the insights we’ve gained over the years at DEODATE.”
The conference, now in its second year, aims to foster proactive thinking around church real estate among Catholic dioceses. It presents a unique platform for dialogue among church leaders, real estate experts, CFOs, clergy members, nuns, monks, and property owners.
David Murphy, Notre Dame Program Director, Church Properties Initiative, commented, “Our annual Church Properties Conference is a distinctive event that bridges the gap between real estate expertise and church property management. The shared insights and discussions here will continue to pave the way for more community-centric, financially sustainable real estate strategies around church properties.”
